Quick verdict

SeenLens wrote this page, and SeenLens is one of the two tools compared. Read our claims about our own product with that in mind. Every claim about Otterly comes from Otterly's own site and was checked on 2026-11-06. If a fact is missing, Otterly does not publish it or we could not verify it.

SeenLens is an alternative to Otterly only if you want to fix the technical causes once. If you need to watch your brand in AI answers over time, SeenLens does not replace Otterly.

What does each tool measure?

Otterly

Otterly runs a library of prompts that you choose against AI engines on a schedule. It records which brands appear, how often, in which position and with which links. The site lists these features:

  • Engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot. Claude is a paid add-on.
  • Metrics: brand mentions, average position, citations, share of AI voice, sentiment and brand profiling.
  • Filters: date range, engine, country and tags such as branded and non branded.
  • Optimization tools: a crawlability audit, a content check, GEO recommendations and prompt research.
  • Agent Analytics: how AI agents crawl your site.
  • Access: an API and an MCP integration.

Otterly also offers free tools: AI keyword research, AI Referral Traffic, Query Fan Out, GEO Content Check and AI Crawler Simulation. We have not compared the Otterly crawlability audit with the SeenLens checks one by one.

SeenLens

SeenLens scans one page URL with 38 deterministic checks in five dimensions: AI crawler access (30%), content structure (25%), structured data (15%), agent readiness (15%) and technical delivery (15%). It returns a score from 0 to 100, five dimension scores and the top three issues. The scan is free and needs no account. The score measures readiness. It does not query any AI engine and does not count mentions. See how the scan works.

SeenLens does not run prompts. It reads the page, robots.txt, llms.txt and a few agent files, sends requests with AI user agents to compare responses, and reports what it found with a fix for each issue.

How much does each tool cost?

On 2026-11-06 the Otterly pricing page listed three self-serve plans in USD. A toggle on the page shows 15% off for annual billing. The page says all subscriptions are billed monthly and you can cancel at any time. It also says there is a free trial for new users and does not state its length.

Extra prompts cost USD 99 per 100 on Standard and Premium. Claude, Google AI Mode and Gemini are paid add-ons for each plan. For example, Google AI Mode costs USD 9 per month on Lite and USD 59 on Standard. See the pricing page for the full add-on list.

SeenLens. The scan is free. The AI Visibility Report costs USD 49 once per URL, with a 7-day money-back guarantee. There is no subscription and no account. See the pricing page.

Over a year, Otterly Lite costs USD 348 at the monthly price, or USD 300 at the annual toggle price. SeenLens costs USD 49 once per URL. The two buy different things, so the totals do not say which is better value for you.

When is Otterly the better choice?

  • You need to know how often AI answers mention your brand, and you want the number every day or week.
  • You compare your brand with competitors across prompts, countries or tags, and you report to a team or a client.
  • You want citation sources, sentiment and position in one dashboard, with an API or MCP connection to your own tools.
  • You are an agency. Otterly lists an Agency Partner program with extra prompts and client workspaces.

SeenLens cannot do any of this. It does not query AI engines and it does not keep history.

When is SeenLens the better choice?

  • You want to know why AI crawlers cannot read a page, and you want to fix it once without a monthly bill.
  • You suspect a technical block: a firewall rule, a robots.txt line, a noindex tag or content that appears only after JavaScript runs.
  • You need a report for one URL that you can hand to a developer, with the cause, the fix and the evidence for each issue.
  • You want agent files checked: llms.txt, Markdown version, ai-catalog.json, agent card and WebMCP.

A SeenLens score does not show whether any AI engine mentions you today. It shows whether your page is ready to be read.

Can I use both?

Yes, and the order is simple. Run the free SeenLens scan first. If it finds crawler access or content problems, fix them. Then use a tracker such as Otterly to watch whether mentions and citations change over the following weeks. Keep the SeenLens report as the record of what you changed and when. Other things also move AI answers, so a change in tracked mentions is a hint and not proof of cause.
